About me
I’m currently a PhD research student in Computer Vision.
I’m interested in lots of things, mostly to do with my research. My background is in Psychology, and I’ve done (and continue to do!) some professional web development, IT consultancy, and lots of programming too.
My research interests are related to Computer Vision, Cellular Automata and biomimetic algorithms for optimisation, or Swarm Intelligence. I’m also thoroughly interested in the history and the philosophy of consciousness, including artificial life. Maybe one day I’ll write a book.
Other than working like a man possessed, I enjoy finding and eating very spicy food – especially Chinese, Mexican and Indian cuisine. I also enjoy martial arts, particularly karate, Aikido and Kenjutsu. When I can’t be bothered to leave the house though, I just fire up a computer game, watch a film (sci fi, fantasy, zombie horror or occasionally something a little more intellectual), or read a book (see previous parentheses!).
